After 24 years in Japan, I can say that I have the best job in the world! If inspiration is the cornerstone of what we do (and it is) then the greatest satisfaction is delivering ideas that inspire our clients and the consumers and customers that fuel their businesses. Happily, I work with some of the most talented people in the industry, and with some of the world’s leading brands; both Japanese and foreign. And that gives me the chance to see inspiration in the making, and inspiration delivered – and even to help shape that process!
But big ideas by themselves are not enough to build the power of our clients’ brands. As consumers and brands alike become more demanding about the value that we deliver to them, great ideas need to be founded firmly on clear and tangible return; return on the money invested by our clients, and return for consumers on the time they spend engaging in our programs and campaigns. After all, it is consumers who are ultimately the clients of us all.
In spite of what some say, there has never been a better time to be in advertising. The landscape and business model has changed, the media mixes, content, and technologies required to inspire the hearts and minds of consumers, and to keep them inspired, have never been more complex. No doubt it is hard work to meet these challenges and to design the best, most effective, and most powerful communications. But never have there been so many opportunities combined with so much talent as here at Euro RSCG – and that makes the challenges both fun and rewarding.
